Vacation starts in two days. Home sick today, and more likely tomorrow. Artificially extended vacation.
Happens every time. Body instinctively knows when a vacation from work is coming up, so it purposely gets sick beforehand. It's happened for the last 3 vacations I've taken. Not just the average "I don't feel well" - stuff that we all get from time to time. No, this is really, really bad stuff. Like the sinus infection last year that turned my one week stay at a friends house into a Tylenol eating marathon. Now this year, with the cough, fever, and more coughing. My JOB requires me to speak. I can't do that.
We're actually in the slow season, so I've been getting off work after only a couple hours anyways, but there is something really annoying about getting sick the days before you take a vacation. It's a blow to your pride, and makes you wonder if your managers are second guessing whether you are sick or not. Personal thoughts, though not reality.
I've proven to myself, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that your mental condition, expectations, etc., WILL affect your body, even if you don't realize it.
I didn't purposefully look forward to or stress over having a vacation coming up. It's just happened.
